Job SummaryThis position is supporting the Rehabilitation Engineering and Applied Research (REAR) lab. The REAR Lab undertakes applied research and specialized product development targeting the increased health and function of persons with disabilities. Specific areas of interest include: biomechanics of wheelchair seating, manual wheelchair propulsion, pressure ulcer prevention, and treatment and the development of diagnostic and assistive technologies. The REARLab’s technology development span a wide array of activities including Graduate and Undergraduate student design projects and collaboration with commercial entitities. The REARLab also undertakes design and development of Orphan Assistive Technologies which serve persons with very special needs. The REARLab’s experimental research reflects expertise in soft tissue imaging, monitoring device use and activities during everyday life, and human performance and function.
This position will work on two projects from the Department of Health and Human Services, developing the necessary deliverables as required by multiple Federal projects.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree
Preferred QualificationsMater's degree in Engineering
Knowledge of mechanics, material properties, software design and debugging, algorithm development, protocol development, data acquisition, data analysis and synthesis.
