Library Curriculum and Instruction Developer
St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Library Curriculum and Instruction Developer. The purpose of this position is to work in consultation with colleagues throughout the library, Office of Information Technology and faculty to design and implement an academically rigorous, accessible, and engaging library instruction program, and to provide leadership and vision for the library's information literacy initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Employ expertise in learning theory, pedagogy, and assessment to develop and administer the library's instruction program
- Collaborate closely with colleagues from Instructional Technology and the Library to develop synchronous and asynchronous instructional programming and materials, including the design and implementation of content or modules for all applicable digital learning platforms, such as Canvas and Salesforce
- Facilitate and promote the integration of instruction program initiatives into the curriculum by working effectively with faculty and staff in all disciplines; serve on campus-wide committees as required
- Analyze data, assess student learning outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness of the library instruction program
- Work within existing institutional strategies related to information literacy and the library
- Along with other library colleagues, provide patron research support on request
- Communicate openly and regularly with supervisor and colleagues
- Work occasional evening and /or weekend hours as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
For consideration, a required: Master's Degree in education, instructional design, information science, or equivalent academic credential. Graduate-level training in learning theory, pedagogy, and assessment. Demonstrated presentation, instruction, and design skills. Demonstrated knowledge of methods and practices of teaching and an understanding of how people learn. Demonstrated ability to develop effective instructional strategies. Proficiency in web/multimedia, applications. Experience developing online resources and tools such as learning modules, tutorials, guides, FAQs. Ability to learn and adopt new technologies. Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-changing environment. Ability to work independently and as a team member, assign tasks and deadlines, manage several projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. Possess strong customer service orientation. Successful completion of an employment and criminal history background check required.
