The Accountant is responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable, various account reconciliations, journal entries, vendor statement analysis, account receivable, bank reconciliations, monthly billings and follow-up.
Examples of DutiesProvides oversight of all aspects of the Account Payable process including communication and coordination of efforts with purchasing staff and department budget managers.Completes Accounts Payable invoice verification.Supervises Accounts Payable clerical staff.Completes journal entries related to Accounts Payable.Manages all non-student billings.Processes all non-student checks that are received by the College. Completes all aspects of accounting for the college Agency Funds including but not limited to student activities.Completes account reconciliations, as assigned.Assists in the preparation of the College’s annual financial statements and assists the external auditors as needed.Performs other duties, as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.Minimum of three (3) years’ experience applicable experience required. Accounting experience in educational setting preferred.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with advanced knowledge of Excel.Experience with automated accounting systemPossess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners in large and small settings. Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff and a commitment to a student-centered environment.
