UTK OIT Business Information Systems group is seeking applicants for the position of Software Analyst III.   Position will be responsible for implementing, configuring, customizing, maintaining, and monitoring software applications for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.   Position will report to the IT Manager, Business Information Systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

    Leads development efforts to identify, evaluate, supports, and solve complex software application and software integration issuesIdentifies strategic areas of development and directs projects to achieve this developmentForms project teams including non-departmental experts to accomplish University goalsProvides analysis and input for development, clarification, and revision of University business processesProvides guidance and direction of most effective way to develop and/or integrate software solutions, including evaluation of proposed software purchasesIdentifies, researches, and disseminates new technologies as appropriateInteracts with external vendors and contractors to develop complex software solutions that facilitate achievement of UT’s stated strategic missionMigrates data and software functionality from obsolete platforms and systems to new architecture or systemsPerforms emergency maintenance on mission-critical, time-dependent software systems  Performs maintenance, upgrades, and testing of purchased software solutionsSchedules routine software maintenancePerforms or delegates software operations dutiesFacilitates meetings where participants may have disparate opinions and/or goals to achieve buy-in and consensusDesigns and collects metrics on software efficiencies, cost savings, and productivity for new and existing projectsProvides project status reports to internal and external managementPrioritizes work based on user priorities, legal requirements, and availability of University resourcesPerforms other related duties as required


QualificationsMinimal Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree and five years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of education and experienceDeep understanding and experience with the PHP programming languageDeep understanding  of Javascript, CSS, API Integration technologies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of use of SQL, MySQL Server, MSSQL, and Oracle Databases
  • Documented software development and analytical skillsAbility to effectively interact with internal campus partners and external vendorsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; customer-service oriented; and a demonstrated flexibility with a variety of applications and user requests.

    Exceptional customer service skillsExcellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
