The Director of IT leads technology execution, support and service delivery for an Affiliate college that has complex technology requirements. As a member of the System Office IT organization, this person plays the central role in driving System-level IT initiatives at the campus, as well as and managing IT services to the school, which are delivered in accordance with System IT standards.
This role includes a variety of responsibilities, such managing strategic relationships with college leaders to understand technology priorities, building and managing IT staff to fulfill technology projects and support needs, and maintaining end user, infrastructure and classroom technologies. Campus IT services include, but are not limited to network, phones, server infrastructure, desktop support, classroom technology, audio visual equipment, printers, and simulation labs.
The Director of IT will work collaboratively with System IT teams, such as Network Operations and Information Security, in order to fulfill IT service requirements and solve any technology issues that emerge.
- Manage a team of site support staff to comprehensively support the technology service needs of the school. Responsibilities include recruiting team members, mentoring and coaching staff, and providing the support and resources necessary for each individual’s job duties and professional growth.
- Provide excellent customer service, through management of school IT expectations and delivery of service from the site support team. Represent IT to Students, Faculty and Staff.
- Stay abreast of the technology needs at the school and communicate these needs back to the System Office. Use technical, analytical and communication skills to accurately articulate and elaborate school needs.
- Identify opportunities to reduce inefficiencies of on-campus support processes. This may involve driving incident prevention, utilizing remote management capabilities, and establishing end-user self-service platforms.
- Promote the sharing and adoption of System policies, processes and best practices by educating and influencing school-level stakeholders. Understand, promote and support System IT strategies and projects.
- Develop the IT team’s expertise in supporting technologies that are unique to the college, such as lab simulation equipment.
- Ensue staff rotation and coverage meet the needs of school technology support.
- Maintain an ongoing dialog with the IT Help Desk team to the ensure continuity of support processes across central IT support and campus IT support.
- Foster a positive work environment and drive awareness of organizational culture and goals.
- Along with IT and School Leadership, oversee the technology buildout of the new medical school facility. This responsibility includes working directly with System IT teams and technology and AV vendors to ensure a quality implementation.
- During the build of the medical school and hiring of the IT team, the Director of IT will support school employees directly. This will include onboarding new employees and providing “hands on” support until the IT team and function is established over time. The Director of IT will have the assistance of System Office IT resources while providing this support to employees.

- Results-oriented work approach, which encompasses finding ways to work across boundaries and departments to implement solutions and solve issues.
- Technical competency in supporting client and server devices in a Microsoft Windows domain. Fluency with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and File and Print Services.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and the ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues with wired, wireless and mobile devices in office, classroom, lab and conference room environments.
- Proficiency with a variety of client-side operating systems and productivity software, including Windows, OSX, iOS, Android, Office365 and popular browsers.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, which may include evenings and/or weekends. Frequent peak periods occur the beginning of each semester and during service launch dates.
- BS in a related technology, engineering or business field. MS or MBA is a plus.
- Higher Education and/or Medical industry knowledge is desired.
- Experience with medical simulation technologies is desired.
- Minimum of 5 years managing IT employees, with direct experience leading teams to meet defined support level agreements.
- Experience running complex technology projects and implementations.
- Technology certifications with Microsoft Systems or Cisco network technology stacks are a plus.
