Hofstra University is a dynamic community of more than 11,000 students from around the world who are dedicated to civic engagement, academic excellence and becoming leaders in their communities and their careers.Description:The Hofstra University Department in Physician Assistant (PA) Studies requests applications from qualified individuals for a full time faculty position with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2021. The physician assistant program at Hofstra University is a fully accredited master’s degree program. This is a full-time (12-month) faculty appointment. The position is subject to financial availability.
•Provides undergraduate, didactic year, clinical year, and/or research semester instruction.
•Instructs and assesses students in courses such as physical examination and diagnostic modalities courses, correlative medicine, structure lab, simulation activities, and summative exams.
•Instructs and assesses students in team-taught courses.
•Is responsible for the coordination of selected courses.
•Participates in curriculum development.
•Participates in examination oversight, including proctoring examinations.
•Is responsible for student assessment.
•Participate in program committees and meetings.
•Develop scholarly projects.
•Participates in faculty development and in PAEA.
•Participate in University-wide and community admissions events and other activities as required.
•Participates in the evaluation and selection of applicants as a member of the program’s Admission Committee.
•Serves as a faculty advisor for students.
•Participate in curriculum development and evaluation, student evaluation, and evaluation of the program.
•Assuring availability of remediation.
•Participates in mission statement review and revision.
•Participate in the duties necessary for program maintenance of accreditation.
Qualifications:Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess the following:
•Candidates must possess a terminal degree in their field. Physician assistants must be licensed in New York State, currently certified by the NCCPA, and have a minimum of a master’s degree.
•Previous teaching experience in a physician assistant program as a core faculty member is preferred but not required.
•Previous clinical experience as a physician assistant is necessary.
•Strong teaching, organizational, communication, and leadership skills are necessary.
