Educational and Experience Requirement:Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. Two years experience in administrative support, event planning, and marketing/communications, or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is desirable. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position:Provides administrative support for the SHSU-COM Dean’s office. Supports and coordinates SHSU-COM related communications, events and other assigned administrative support for the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Primary Responsibilities:Manages all events held at SHSU-COM as arranged in collaboration with internal SHSU-COM departments, other main campus departments, and external constituents. Coordinates and manages the venue, equipment, event invitations and correspondence material. Designs event flyers, brochures, posters, handouts, and other marketing materials as needed for SHSU-COM. Updates and maintains SHSU-COM digital signage, internal electronic communications, website content, social media sites and various other communications as needed and assigned. Promotes the College of Osteopathic Medicine programs, events and services to students, alumni, faculty and staff. Develops, coordinates, and implements assigned processes. Manages conference forms, room booking, etc. Orders and maintains supply inventory for various areas. Responsible for assisting the building liaison for oversight and coordination of necessary work orders for repairs and installations needed in the COM building as well as assisting with the yearly inventory. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications:Requires effective skills in oral, written, and interpersonal communication. Must be proficient in computer usage, especially Microsoft Office Programs, and social media management. Must be able to forge effective relationships both internally and externally. Requires a demonstrated ability to establish congenial work relationships and to communicate effectively within department and workgroup. The incumbent must demonstrate confidence, an understanding of protocol, and an appropriate awareness of sensitivity to the opinions and concerns of others. Could be required to work occasional evenings or weekends according to program needs.
This position is located in the Grand Central Park community of Conroe, TX – just 5 miles north of The Woodlands, and 35 miles north of Houston.
