Assistant Project Coordinator, TRAIN Job Readiness Program

Job description

The Assistant Project Coordinator will work closely with Assistant Vice President for Adult Education and Workforce Development, program staff, and project partners (MassHire Career Centers and Workforce Boards, STCC, Springfield Works, and employer partners) MassHire Holyoke Career Center on TRAIN Job Readiness program. TRAIN is a Job Readiness training program, including a work experience component, for un- and underemployed job seekers in recovery, funded through a grant from the MA Department of Higher Education. We will serve 2 cohorts of 12-15 from February to June, 2021 in Hampden County. All programming is anticipated to be online.

  • Assists in planning and program delivery while facilitating program coordination and logistics.
  • Works effectively as part of a team involving multiple agencies.
  • Works with Job Placement Assistant and other program staff to recruit, screen, and vet candidates for the program.
  • Works with Springfield Works and other program partners on referrals into the program.
  • Works closely with the Assistant Vice President, instructors, and other staff to coordinate training component of TRAIN, on HCC campus and in downtown Holyoke and Springfield sites.
  • Coordinates work of HCC, STCC, Springfield Works, and career center staff to conduct recruitment and screening and delivery of instruction/training.
  • Coordinates logistics of TRAIN Job Readiness program (instructor and room schedules, instructor needs, student supports, student evaluations, etc.). Ensures instructors have needed materials and supplies, ensures that attendance is taken by Job Placement Assistant or other team members.
  • Coordinates logistics of work experience, including matching participants to placements with employers, coordinating transportation through grant-funded supports, and gathering evaluative feedback from employers and participants.
  • Works with Job Placement Assistants and employer partners to place students in employment, occupational training, transition to college or college upon completion of Job Readiness training and work experience.
  • Communicates in a timely and effective way with program partners regarding program logistics, by email, telephone or text.
  • Maintains program data (participation, attendance, completion, placement, referrals to support services, etc.) and reports to Assistant Vice President in a timely manner.
  • Maintains all program materials (curriculum, attendance, evaluations, etc.) for reporting purposes.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree; Documented experience in project coordination and assessment; Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational and time management skills.

    PREFERRED: Master’s Degree; Experience working with culturally diverse groups; Prior experience in or understanding of Hampden County workforce development system; Prior experience facilitating workshops on essential skills (work readiness skills) such as Professionalism, Respect for Diversity, Teamwork, etc.).

    Hours: 18.5 hours/week; 20 paid weeks, February, 2021 through June 30, 2021

    Funding Source: Grant (TRAIN, DHE)

    - All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States. HCC is not sponsoring H1B Visa.
