Job Description Summary:
The primary duties of the Residence Life Desk Assistant are to provide receptionist services and the first-line of emergency response at the 24-hour Front Desk. This position requires a high-level of customer service to students, staff, and visitors. This position also serves as a communication center during any emergency situations that may arise. The Desk Assistant reports directly to the Executive Director of Campus Life and Residence Hall Managers and works collaboratively with the Resident Assistant staff.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum 1.00 Cumulative GPA • Must live in housing during semester(s) of employment • Must be able to work every other weekend • Must be able to work late night/early morning shifts • You must not be on any college probation (academic or social) during the period of employment • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours with the College • Must be able to work at least 10 hours a week

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Monitor the entrances of the building to make sure only residents and their guests access the building • Monitor security cameras within the building • Answer questions for residents and guests • Clean the building • Check out equipment to residents • Sign over packages to appropriate resident • The duties listed in this job description are not all-inclusive, but a list of the major responsibilities. Special Instructions to Applicants:
You must be enrolled at the College on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum of 6 credit hours during fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours during the summer semester); contact hours will not be used to meet the 6 credit hour minimum. High-school students who are dual enrolled are eligible for student employment. You must also meet the credit hour requirement. OR You must be enrolled or continuing your education with a four-year College partner, on the campus of SMC, and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the fall and spring semesters and 3 credit hours and at least 1 SMC credit hour during the summer semester. All student employees must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 to be eligible for student employment.
