ADMINISTRATIVE ANALYST (UTRGV Clinical Lab)

Scope of Job:
Provides professional skills in conducting research and analyzing data to aid administrators in the decision making process. Responsible for gathering and analyzing information on a wide range of topics and preparing reports.


Description of Duties:
• Coordinates the gathering and development of data in support of administrative decision-making and policy development.

• Communicates to the County and the State for infectious test results.

• Collects information from a wide variety of sources.

• Researchers, drafts, and coordinates departmental, program, or center communication and correspondence for issue resolution and policy clarification.

• Reviews and analyzes collected data so that it can be presented in such a manner as to be useful to other participants in a particular project.

• Provides analysis and interpretation of data and makes recommendations as appropriate.

• Provides performance monitoring, information gathering and reporting.

• Develops and maintains information databases.

• Provides a variety of administrative staff services to the department covering various assignments depending on the needs of the department.

• Serves as the institution’s point of contact for the gathering and disseminating of information of assigned projects.

• Complies with all applicable federal, state and university regulations and procedures.

• Assists in the preparation of manuscripts and presentation materials.

• Edits research papers, project reports, and publication materials as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
General direction from the assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
May supervise assigned staff.

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Two (2) years of experience, including experience conducting research or data analysis.

Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment, including spreadsheet, and database software.


Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.


Other:
Work performed on multiple projects concurrently. Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public.

A New University with a Long History

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
