The Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the UCLA Mattel Children's Hospital seeks candidates to serve as the Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics. This is a full-time tenured position, at the rank of associate or full professor rank. The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic individual with excellent leadership, research, teaching, administrative and communication skills. Responsibilities will include working to expand and enhance the research, educational and clinical activities of the division including supervising and mentoring faculty towards gaining independence in research and in developing and implementing clinical pediatric policies. Strong background in research and scholarship is required. Research concerning clinical and health services, population health, quality of care and/or public policy is preferred. Candidates must be board certified in general or adolescent medicine and must be licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in California. The applicant must have a M.D. or equivalent. Compensation for the position is competitive. Individuals with a history of and commitment to mentoring trainees from underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.

The Division of General Pediatrics provides approximately 14,000 annual outpatient services and supervises residents in Pediatrics and Med-Peds as well as UCLA medical students at numerous academic and community insured and safety net clinics throughout the greater LA area. These clinics serve a racially, ethnically, and economically diverse population. The Division is home to several subspecialty programs including: Pediatric Dermatology, the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Program, and the Craniofacial Program. In addition, the Division's faculty members lead UCLA's Pediatric Residency Program, the Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect Program, the Fit for Healthy Weight Program, and the nationally recognized Pediatric Medical Home Program for medically complex children. Finally, the Division has a thriving Child Health Services Research Program that supports research fellows and junior faculty researchers. The faculty are integrated with the Los Angeles Unified School District, Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and Department of Child and Family Services and the Los Angeles Juvenile Justice System. Much of the research activities are focused on childhood adversities, childhood determinants of adult health, medically complex children, early childhood development, childhood obesity, education and health, youth incarceration, teen risk behaviors, and child health policy. Community outreach includes both an Early Intervention and an Early Head Start Program.
