Responsibilities

Responsible for day-to-day administration and oversight of all Windows, Linux operating systems and software. Manages communications and connection solutions at the server level. Participates in an after-hours support and/or team on- call rotation in support of a 24x7 data center.

Provides troubleshooting and develops appropriate technical solutions to hardware and software problems on servers. Analyzes performance.

Recommend, schedule and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations. Mitigate, identify, troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.

Configure, deploy and maintain enterprise server hardware and operating systems. Ensures integrity and security of enterprise data on systems.

Provide support and consultation to other members of the Open Systems support team and other duties as necessary.

Participates in approved professional development opportunities per NWRDC's policy. Professional development and training is defined as learning undertaken by the employee to maintain and advance their skills, knowledge and competencies, specifically as they relate and add value to the job and workplace.

NWRDC provides support for a wide range of state and local government, as well K- 20 organizations across the State of Florida. These organizations are dependent on NWRDC in order to accomplish their missions. This requires NWRDC to maintain services 24x7, even during times of crisis or emergency. As such, all NWRDC staff are considered essential staff for operations of the State of Florida.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate degree and two years of experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to six years.
(Note:or a combination of appropriate post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.

Ability to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Hands-on experience in hardware and software troubleshooting.

Ability to meet project deadlines.

Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment.

Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.

Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.

Technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols and standards, including Active Directory.

Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures for computer support.

Knowledge of standard programming languages, concepts, practices, and procedures within the technology field.

Knowledge of information technology security measures.

Experience with currently supported versions of Windows Server – 2012/2012R2, 2016, 2019.

Experience with currently supported versions of Linux.

Experience working within multiple customer environments.

The ideal candidate will have current experience with, and demonstrate a strong understanding of, Systems/Network administration functions in Windows Server 2012/2012R2, 2016, 2019 as well as Linux/Unix (CentOS, RHEL6-8).

Preferred

Knowledge of, and recent experience with currently supported versions of Unix/Linux, to include CentOS, and RedHat Linux.

Knowledge of, certifications and/or recent experience with Cloud Services to include Azure, AWS or GCP.

Knowledge of, and recent experience with Microsoft Active Directory

Knowledge of, and recent experience with Microsoft Exchange and/or Office365 in both standalone and/or hybrid environments.

Knowledge of, and recent experience with Domain Name Services (DNS)

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
