Position Details:
Summary of Duties:Under general supervision support the transition of multiple diagnostic testing laboratories to a new facility and perform equipment and laboratory decommissioning following the transition. Perform simple, routine clinical laboratory assays, sample processing, data entry, media preparation, and other laboratory work in support of the transition to a new facility.
Eligibility and understanding of BSL-2 laboratory safety guidelines and work environment is required.
This is a project appointment which will end July 30, 2021. Renewal is subject to project needs and funding extension.
Required Qualifications:
High school graduation OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements:
•Ability to work weekends and/or holidays during high volume testing periods.
•Physical eligibility required for working in a BSL-2 environment. See the following link for more information. https://www.cdc.gov/training/QuickLearns/biosafety/
•Experience in a medical, healthcare, and/or veterinary diagnostic laboratory setting.
•Possession of, or the ability to obtain at time of hire, a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience using a lab information management system (LIMS) or similar electronic medical record system.
•College level Microbiology or similar coursework.
•Exceptional data entry skills, demonstrating speed and accuracy.
•Experience providing exceptional customer service.
•Experience/Familiarity with Hand-Off Communication Standards.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to respond constructively to stressful situations and problems.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced
Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.
Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
