Job Details

St. Norbert College (www.snc.edu) invites applications for a full-time, visiting assistant professor in psychology starting August 2021. This position is renewable for up to 3 years, contingent on annual performance review and budgetary approval. Applicants from all areas of psychology are invited to apply, but preference will be given to candidates with a background in behavioral medicine or physiological psychology. The successful applicant will have a strong desire to teach psychology classes, both in service to the discipline (e.g., general psychology and basic statistics), as well as classes in their specialty area (e.g., health, psychopharmacology, physiological). The ideal candidate will also develop an active program of research involving undergraduates. While preference will be given to candidates who will have completed their Ph.D. by the time of employment, well-qualified ABD candidates are encouraged to apply.

The St. Norbert College Psychology Discipline (https://www.snc.edu/psychology/) prides itself on excellent teaching and faculty-student collaborative research. We are seeking a candidate who values teaching undergraduate students and who could also provide students with research opportunities outside of the classroom. This position will share responsibility for teaching general psychology and basic statistics. There will also be opportunities to develop and teach one or two additional courses in the candidate’s area of specialty. The typical teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester. Visiting professors have no committee or academic advising duties.

A multitude of resources are available to support one’s academic program of research, including four dedicated psychology lab spaces in a recently renovated state of the art science building (https://www.snc.edu/naturalsciences/gms.html). Sitewide licenses to support data collection and analysis including E-Prime, Qualtrics, SPSS, and Sona are provided. A 32-electrode Actichamp electroencephalographic system is available for use, as are two anechoic chambers.

St. Norbert College welcomes applications from members of all backgrounds and faith traditions. The College’s mission emphasizes the Norbertine vision of community and includes providing “an educational environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and personal development.” We seek those who will contribute to our mission and support our commitment to building a vibrant, diverse, and spiritually engaged community. Candidates are encouraged to visit our website (www.snc.edu) to learn more about the College and its mission (www.snc.edu/mission/statement.html).

St. Norbert College is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to enhancing the diversity of our people, ideas and talents. We welcome individuals with diverse experiences, backgrounds, and skills to join our college community in our pursuit of inclusion and excellence. Applications from members of underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged.
