General Overview:
The Development Officer cultivates and solicits major gifts from alumni and friends of the University to support priority programs and initiatives. Moreover, the Development Officer liaises with deans, faculty, and leaders to strategically align the organization’s and program’s needs with interests and resources of donors.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Identifies and prioritizes a portfolio of prospects and develops appropriate strategies to secure gifts and achieve fund raising goals.
• Works with other departments to develop and coordinate programs and events that engage and motivate major gift donors.
• Builds and adapts programs to a point of sustainability.
• Documents all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in appropriate donor files.
• Develops appropriate fundraising budgets and revenue projections for annual and campaign giving.
• Ensures regular communications and stewardship with donors, including re-solicitations, and proper acknowledgement of gifts and pledge payments.
• Determines fundable projects and packages them appropriately for consideration by donors.
• Makes recommendations to leadership and faculty concerning their roles and involvement in the identification, cultivation or solicitation of donor prospects.
• Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required with a minimum of three years of experience. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Good leadership skills and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
