Basic Function:

Manages all aspects of NVCC’s clustered database environment including SSIS packages, updates / patching, performance monitoring and tweaking, security / encryption, backup / redundancy and overall reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Database / Server Engineer plans, tests, integrates, implements and maintains Enterprise Database Servers. Manages all aspects of NVCC’s clustered database environment including SSIS packages, updates / patching, performance monitoring and tweaking, security / encryption, backup / redundancy and overall reliability.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Significant experience managing clustered enterprise Microsoft SQL environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with administering MS SQL Server databases in an enterprise environment. Experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures. Experience with at least one programming language, preferably Visual Studio / VB.NET. Experience with a Windows 2008/2012 Server (and higher) environment. Experience with Linux, VMWare, Cisco UCS, NetApp and Citrix is also desirable.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Execllent knowledge of enterprise wide database server environment. Ability to manage, plan, engineer, implement and maintain an enterprise wide database server environment. Ability to diagnose and analyze Microsoft SQL, Windows Server server failures and problems (in a VMWare environment) and to provide necessary solutions or consultation as needed. Ability to manage relational database, scripting and database merges. Excellent analytical and communication skills.
