Job Summary

The Department of Biology invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Biological and Biomedical Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses associated with the Bachelors of Science in Biology; developing and teaching advanced-level courses. Assignments may include lecture and/or laboratory sections as available in the Principles of Biology sequence, Genetics, Ecology, Cell Biology, Nueroscience or Vertebrate Anatomy. Qualifications include graduate course work in one of the above mentioned course disciplines. Ideal candidates will have a focus on student success and foster an engaging learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds who want to be successful at a broad range of educational goals. The candidate will mentor undergraduate students and sustain a vibrant research program that actively engages undergraduate students. The successful applicant will also participate in the growth and advancement of programs in Biology, including the development of a Master’s degree program in Biology. Active undergraduate student advisement and research is required.

Required Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in Biology or discipline complementary to the Biology program required; preference given to applicants with education and experience in Genetics, Ecology, Cell Biology, Neuroscience, or Vertebrate Anatomy; corresponding post-doctoral experience in interdisciplinary dimensions of contemporary Biology is preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of at least three (3) years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level as well as evidence of grantsmanship potential and scholarly activity. A satisfactory background check is required.

Proposed Salary

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience; excellent benefits.
