MEDICAL STAFF COORDINATOR

Scope of Job:
This position is responsible for providing credentialing support for the UTRGV School of Medicine.


Description of Duties:
• Responsible for providing credentialing services for all medical staff and allied health professionals. The duties include, but are not limited to, the timely completion of the Texas Standardized Credentialing Application, multiple hospital credentials, and practice plan enrollment.
• Verification and maintenance/compliance of all licensure and appointments for state and government agencies, certifications, and maintenance for each provider.
• Ensures that each provider meets the requirements for the Joint Commission, NCQA compliance and AAHC.
• Responsible for assisting faculty and staff with licensure paperwork and processes with state and government agencies.
• Assists with peer reviews from internal and external hospitals, surgical centers and credentialing verification organizations.
• Communicates regularly with hospital medical staff offices, practice plan staff and regulatory agencies for credentialing, re-credentialing and enrollment for providers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervision Received:
Specific supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervision Given:
Direct supervision of assigned staff.

Required Education:
• Associates Degree or 60 hours of College Credit, or • Three (3) years of specialized experience in credential and/or CMS/TMHP/health plan enrollment processes with a High School Diploma/GED.

Preferred Education:
Course work in a health related area.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Required Experience:
Three (3) years office administrative experience.


Preferred Experience:
Work experience in a health related environment.


Equipment:
Use of standard office equipment.


Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required.


Other:
Possess oral and written communication skills. Possess effective organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work on multiple tasks.

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.

 

Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.

 

UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
