Job Description Summary
Will assist and carry out research projects in the lab. Will play an important role in carrying out experiments and learning new techniques. Will participate in ordering supplies, inventory maintenance, and animal colony management. Will gather data from experiments, complete data entry, and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigators and postdoctoral researchers, with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings.

Job Description

We are looking for a self-motivated, inquisitive, ambitious, and enthusiastic person who thrives in a fast- paced environment and can interact well with others as part of a team. This position will involve a combination of independent and team-driven research projects, as well as providing lab management assistance under the direct supervision of the research project manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform molecular biology techniques (e.g. PCR, immunofluorescent staining, and immunohistochemistry)
  • Isolate and stain cells for flow cytometry
  • Analyze flow cytometry data under the supervision of a senior investigator
  • Collect and process tissue samples from murine models
  • Opportunities exist to actively contribute to research projects as a co-author and present data at lab meetings and research symposiums for interested candidates
  • Conduct scientific literature searches
  • Other duties may include, but not limited to: record data and analyze results; maintain inventory of frozen cell stocks and plasmids; prepare laboratory reagents and maintain equipment; oversee animal census; support general lab management


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 0-1 year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions
Office, library, computer room; requires extensive safety training; requires protective devices

Physical Effort
Typically sitting at a desk or table; Occasional lifting 25 lb.
