AMBULATORY CARE LEAD RN- HILLSBOROUGH FAMILY PRACTICE
The Ambulatory Care Lead RN is a role developed to work in coordination with the nursing leadership in an assigned clinic/practice to ensure the work is accomplished effectively. The ACLRN is the first line support for staff, physicians and other related providers on service- specific clinical issues. The ACL RN is generally a long-term role, requiring clinical and interpersonal skills.
The ACL RN collaborates with the manager on clinical and non-clinical issues (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.). The ACL RN is the support for the clinic/practice when the manager is unavailable. The ACL RN is responsible for supervising, directing, coaching and mentoring their assigned core group of staff.
Work Per formed Duties and responsibilities include all those required of the ACN IV:
Plan and coordinate clinical requirements for staff and ensure that all CBO and CBE requirements for staff are currentPlan and assist with coordination of staff schedules and submit for manager approvalCoordinate clinical requirements with staff regarding equipment and suppliesConsult with preceptors and orientees on a regular basis to provide support and determine how orientation should proceed on an individual basis Collaborate with the manager for issue resolutions and projects to improve work flow processes throughout the department utilizing a proactive approach.Collaborate with different departments (pharmacy, radiology, lab, registration) to resolve issues and improve work flow processes throughout the departmentCollaborate with the nurse managers in the interview process for new applicantsMentor/coach staff to enhance their professional developmentAssesses the performance of assigned new hires and orientees including entry level nurses, certified medical assistants and radiologic technologists; provides ongoing feedback and coachingUnderstand and communicate potential clinical equipment or supply issues to appropriate team membersMentor and monitor the preceptors for all new employeesProvide clinical/education updates and skill check-offs to entire staff on a regular basisProvides immediate support and education on policy, procedures, equipment and suppliesResponsible for learning, implementing and teaching new technology/proceduresDemonstrates awareness of current problem s and basic plan for all patients within assigned areaProvides clinical consultation and guidance as needed to facilitate patient careGives assistance and/or direction to staff to facilitate quality patient flowAssess staffing needs according to workload and staff competency; Re-assigns and adjusts staffing based upon patient care needsDelegates responsibiliies within the scope of practice and validated competencies in order to meet the workload demands of the shift. Facilitates assignments that support learning for the orientee or nurse learnerPromotes an atmosphere of open communication that facilitates staff input into decision-making, resolution of conflict, and collegiality among all health team membersCommunicates in an effective, professional mannerFacilitates staff performance audits related to attitude, team performance, The Joint Commission , DFS standards and SCIP initiativesReviews and comments on forwarded SRSs related to their team. Facilitates and encourages staff participation in departmental and entity committee and council meetings.Attends departmental and entity committee meetings as assignedCoordinates, facilitates, participates and directs departmental projects with follow-through and appropriate follow-upOther projects and duties as directed by the department managers.

Education
Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN degreeIncumbents in this job classification effective on or before 10/01/2015 who currently hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing or a Nursing Diploma may remain in this classification under a "grandfathered" statusTransferring to another job classification will require that all minimum qualifications of that job be met and will result in a loss of grandfathering status for this classificationExperience
Requires three years of nursing experienceIn addition to the education and experience described above, incumbents must meet all requirements set forth by the Clinical Ladder Committee in Nursing for Clinical Nurse/Ambulatory Care Nurse III within one year ofDegrees, Licensures, Certifications
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
