BLS at time of hire through American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification for the Healthcare Provider
The essential function of this position include the ability to lift or carry up to 25-50 pounds as needed, as well as stand for long periods of time. The condition of work may include expsposure to communicable disease and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift:Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, some holidays or weekends maybe required.
Job Summary:The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for direct patient care and provides clinical support to providers.
Duties include but not limited to the following: obtain patient medical history information, expedite patient flow, room patients, stocking clinic with supplies, navigate electronic health record system, schedule and follow-up with appointments and assist with medication fill requests, prior authorizations and schedule tests, procedures and consults.
The MA will communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients and physicians in a respectful manner and follow UK Healthcare behavioral expectations for service excellence.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:The ideal candidate will have proven the ability to work in a team as well as independently and to be assertive and provide optimal patient care to the pediatric population in an ambulatory clinic setting. The ability to communicate in a professional manner with patients and their families, co-workers, and physician’s is essential to delivering collaborative care to patients and excellent customer service skills is required. The ability to prioritize and organize and the ability to navigate the electronic computer system in order to appropriately document patient care.
