Overview
The Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory seeks a full-time applied mathematician/physicist at the rank of a Staff Research Physicist, focusing on multi-scale time-integration and implicit electromagnetic simulation algorithm. This will be a collaborative activity in the Exascale Computing Project (ECP) and the SCIDAC projects.
Responsibilities
The main duties are:
- To develop multi-scale time-integration methods that can prolong a gyro-kinetic physics to a longer timescale.
- To optimize and further develop the fully-implicit electromagnetic turbulence simulation scheme for particle-in-cell codes in toroidal geometries.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Applicants should have a Ph.D. in applied mathematics with an adequate post-doctoral experience.
- Candidates with prior experience in electromagnetic gyro-kinetic scheme, multi-scale time-integration, or particle-in-cell simulations in toroidal geometry are preferred.
- Knowledge of FORTRAN and/or C++ will be required to perform the described job.
- Communication and writing skills in English as well as the ability to work in a team-work environment are required.
