The Department of Art & Visual Culture is part of the Division of the Arts that includes the departments of Dance Performance & Choreography, Music, Theater & Performance, and the Spelman College Innovation Lab.
Position Summary:The Department of Art & Visual Culture invites applications for a part-time Instructor to teach editing in the documentary filmmaking major beginning February 2021.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong background in storytelling through video editing and have professional experience in all phases of video post-production using Adobe Premiere and other applications in the Adobe Creative Suite.
The appointment requires a two course teaching load; The Art of Video Editing, an introductory course for sophomores, and Post-Production for Senior Thesis, an advanced course for seniors completing their thesis films.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have a M.F.A. or equivalent professional experience in editing and post-production. Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required. The successful candidate will have earned a terminal degree (MFA) or an equivalent record of professional accomplishments.
