Essential Job Duties:

This position will serve as a Program Assistant with the Community Food Strategies (CFS) initiative of CEFS. This position will be part of a project conducting case studies about community responses to
COVID in order to form recommendations for addressing structural inequities in the food system. The program assistant will help to develop qualitative data instruments, conduct semi-structured interviews, and assist with qualitative data analysis and the development of themes that will contribute to a set of recommendations.

All work will be done remotely. Superior organization and time management skills are necessary. Attention to detail, excellent follow-through, ability to think on your feet, and communicate effectively are vital to success in this position. Candidate must be able to hit the ground running, and be ready to jump into a busy team. Work Schedule – 9 hours a week. Due to the pandemic, we are currently working remotely, but this position will return to the office on campus when NC State University decides it is safe to do so.

Minimum Experience/Education:

-BS in Nutrition, Food Studies, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Agroecology, Agriculture or a field related to food and the food system

Department Required Skills:

-Excellent communication, follow-up and time management skills
-Must have experience with qualitative methods, including developing instruments, data entry, and data coding and analysis
-An excellent work ethic and genuine interest in the work of CEFS broadly, and specifically supporting communities in creating equitable food systems
-Must be extremely reliable and excellent
team player in this fast paced environment.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:

-Experience in a busy office setting
-Experience in an agriculture or health-related field
