The College of Fine Arts and Design is a center of excellence for the arts and design, as well as a center of innovation for improving and promoting arts education. . Position Summary
Instructor provides a quality learning experience for students. Instructor faculty perform instruction-related duties and responsibilities in a timely manner and in accordance with the mission, policies and procedures of the college. The relationship of the Instructor faculty member to the student is one of teacher and facilitator of learning.Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Teach Musical Theatre I (introductory course), Musical Theatre II, Musical Theatre V (scene study); other musical theatre courses—Acting for Musical Theatre; Interview and Audition; Musical Theatre Directing I & II, History of Musical Theatre, Music theatre Performance Workshop—as assigned. Direct and/or choreograph MainStage musicals and revues. Recruit and advise musical theatre majors.Scope/Supervision
Report to the School of Music Director and Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Design.
Qualifications Qualifications/Experience Required
An earned Master’s degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). Possesses excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Terminal degree and/or professional equivalency. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
Professional experience in directing and teaching. Candidates must be committed to the highest ethical standards and demonstrate effective leadership and teamwork skills. Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, online) as necessary and appropriate. Physical Demands
