This posting is for two (2) positions and by applying to this posting applicants will be considered for both vacancies.
This posting is for two (2) Research Specialist positions that will join our large clinical trials group and will provide support to research studies related to COVID-19.
The primary responsibilities of the positions will be to coordinate research studies related to COVID-19. This will include working with nurse coordinators and research assistants on tasks including, but not limited to:
•facilitating study start-up activities
•participant recruitment and scheduling
•obtaining informed consent
•data and sample collection and documentation according to assigned protocols
Participant visits may happen remotely, in the inpatient setting, in an outpatient research clinic, at an outdoor COVID-19 testing and research site, on a mobile research clinic or in the local community.
Candidates must be willing to assist with other study needs across the unit and outside of their assigned protocols during down-time, including, but not limited to; preparing study testing kits and materials, providing visit reminders, data entry, transporting specimens throughout campus, and assisting/interfacing with our large clinical research team.
Personal protective equipment and proper training to use it will be provided.Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Candidates must be reliable, self-directed, and highly organized. A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of research experience is strongly preferred. Experience interfacing with research participants or in a clinical setting highly desired. Strong preference is given to candidates fluent in Spanish and/or with phlebotomy experience.
Candidates must be 1) self-motivated, 2) highly detail-oriented, and willing to follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) precisely, 3) flexible to daily changes in work scope, and 4) able to work in a fast-paced environment and under demanding time constraints.Special Physical and Mental Requirements:
Must be willing to work in a clinical setting with COVID-19 positive study participants after training on the use of personal protective equipment and our unit’s Standard Operating Procedures for safety.Equal Opportunity Employer Statement:
