Description of Work:The Department of Radiology, School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina is committed to excellence in providing radiological services to the people of North Carolina, training future radiologists and engaging in basic and clinical research. The physicians provide services to patients at UNC Hospitals as well as additional sites across the state. More than one-half of the faculty is also directly involved in research studies with other universities, with other departments in the Schools of Medicine and Public Health, and with the Department of Computer Science.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform diagnostic imaging in a variety of research settings. Duties performed include obtaining ultrasound imaging, using and maintaining technical equipment effectively, and/or assisting physicians during procedures. Work involves working directly with patients – preparing patients for procedures, positioning patients, and providing instruction.
Collection of patient research images. Collect ultrasound images for various clinical research studies. Positions may assist physicians with ultrasound procedures. Positions are responsible for maintaining and calibrating equipment, maintaining supply inventory, assisting in scheduling procedures, and evaluating new ultrasound procedures, equipment, and methods.
Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in medical diagnostics; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses.
