The Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida is seeking an Academic Assistant I. The incumbent will coordinate activities and functions of the Program in Bioethics, Law and Medical Professionalism (BLMP) to ensure the goals and objectives of the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations and/or other specifications. Duties of this position include coordinating BLMP program activities for teaching, providing faculty with general administrative support and coordinating the ethics consultation service for the UF Health Organization. Successful candidates will be able to plan and organize work assignments with a high level of detail, with good verbal and written communication skills. Successful candidates will also be able to adhere to relevant standards of professional conduct during all work activities. Additionally, they will be able to manage many tasks concurrently in an effective and courteous manner. Furthermore, successful candidates will be able to seek guidance in detecting and addressing priority conflicts. Prior experience working in higher education and experience using Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred skills.Expected Salary:
The salary range is between $15.00 to $16.50 per hour, and is commensurate with skills and experience.Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience working in higher education.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to type letters, memoranda, and other standard business forms in correct format.
• Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, using correct spelling, punctuation and grammar.
• Ability to operate personal computer and use Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to handle telephone calls in a courteous and effective manner.
