Position Description:
As a key member of the Enterprise Data Services Team, the Senior Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for providing advanced skills in relation to architecture, technical analysis, design, deployment and oversight of UCLA's next generation Campus Data Warehouse leveraging emerging cloud-based technologies and reporting tools as well as ensuring existing technologies are effectively and efficiently utilized. The Senior Enterprise Data Architect's primary responsibilities include collaboration with functional subject matter experts, technical analysts and systems engineers to elicit and define key business requirements for the design, development and deployment of data models and design specifications utilizing standardized methodologies (e.g. Kimball, star schema); contribute to the design and development of complex Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) specifications in conjunction with developers; collaborate with Business Intelligence Analysts to define data needs and to design user-centered dashboards or other reports that help drive effective decision making; conducts system performance analysis, troubleshooting and designs system enhancements to improve performance and scalability of data warehouse and platform. Additional responsibilities include project planning and management, development of detailed project plans, project resource planning, project dependencies and status reporting/communications; designs, develops and executes comprehensive test plans of enterprise data warehouse system to ensure data integrity, effective alignment of business requirements with technical solutions and analysis of emerging technologies and best practices to continuously improve the delivery of data services to campus customers. The Senior Enterprise Data Architect will also foster the development of the UCLA data warehouse community through presentations, research of emerging technologies and tools, and acting as steward to the campus IT and business community in relation to effective use of data warehouse technologies. May provide after-hours support as needed or assigned.
