Position Description:
Under the direction of a Police Captain, manage day-to-day operational aspects of a division of the Police Department. The Patrol Division consists of all UCPD Officers assigned to patrol campus and its surroundings on a daily basis. A Patrol lieutenant would be assigned to either one of the two, or both, day and night watches. Major duties include directing the assigned activities of a division of the department and disseminating orders; ensuring adherence to personnel rules and regulations, reporting violations of policy, and relieving personnel of duty when appropriate; providing continuous command and supervision in the absence of the Chief of Police and initiating command leadership when such action is necessary to fulfill a functional police responsibility.
