Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost

In a world changing at an ever-accelerating pace, the role of an urban university has never been more important or exciting. The University of Cincinnati (UC) is implementing Next Lives Here, its strategic direction, to advance our mission and create our future. Next Lives Here builds on our past and envisions our role in defining the future. It is meant to disrupt academia's conventional ways of thinking and doing, to define our next 200 years. Our vision embraces:

  • Inclusion: Intentionally engaging diverse people and ideas.
  • Innovation: Challenging existing paradigms and discovering the unknown.
  • Impact: Positively transforming our community and society in measurable ways.

UC’s next Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, reporting to the University President, will be a scholar who champions academic priorities, supports student-centered leadership, promotes equity and inclusion, and advances UC as a leading public urban research institution. Next Lives Here has unleashed exciting opportunities for the Provost to shape UC and impact our region. The Provost will work collaboratively with the President, Deans and Faculty to reimagine our academic programs and will be responsible for liberating UC’s creativity and passion through targeted resource investments. The Provost will be a key partner in Research and Innovation by positioning UC to engage more intentionally with our business and surrounding communities through the emerging Cincinnati Innovation District, and will work closely with our Academic Health Center and the Senior Vice President for Health Affairs to enhance the impact of our clinical programs and improve health outcomes in the city and this region.
