Associate or Assistant Professor of Bible and Religion

Job description

Goshen College invites applications for a full-time appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor of Bible and Religion with expertise in biblical studies and peace and justice studies, starting July 2021.

Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the areas of Bible, conflict studies, reconciliation and justice, and courses for the CORE (general education) program, including the possibility of a writing and/or research class, as well as innovative upper-level Bible, PJCS and interdisciplinary courses. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate strengths in thematic areas for comparative courses that resonate with other academic programs at Goshen College – e.g., Women’s and Gender Studies, Anabaptist and Mennonite Studies, Sustainability and International Education. In addition to teaching, the position includes advising and mentoring an increasingly culturally, racially and religiously diverse student body and supporting departmental co-curriculars.

Goshen College is a teaching college with a 4-3-1 load, and all teaching faculty serve on institution-wide committees and assist with advising, as well as recruiting prospective students. The successful candidate must be ready to contribute to our strong tradition of excellence in research and publication as well as teaching. Candidates must be interested in working closely with students and fellow faculty members as part of a small, vibrant campus and community.

•Ph.D. preferred (dissertation completed by August 2021), in biblical studies or related field
