Criminal Background Check

Position Summary:

Plan for upcoming events by gathering all elements of each event in a timely manner for delivery. Delivery, set-up and break down of events with critical time management is required. Clear and conscientious communication between team members and customers is required. Keep equipment and supplies organized, cleaned and inventoried for catering department. Working autonomously and independently is essential.

Essential Functions:

Offer is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
•Works Cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisors
•Cultivates a positive work environment
•Responsible for managing timely gathering, delivery, set-up and pick-up of catered events.
•Keeps all catering equipment storage
areas neatly organized and clean and inventoried
•Loads and unloads catering truck, van
or gator multiple times daily
•Must gain a thorough understanding of the college layout and have the ability to strategize delivery and pick up routes
•Uses applicable programs to support the department – CaterTrax, 25 Live Email
•Communicates consistently with the Catering manager, Catering Chef and Cooks and Catering Coordinator/Event Lead for information on changes in events and updates preparations as needed.
•Responsible for inventory and maintenance of equipment used in catered events and stored in multiple locations
•Reacts quickly and appropriately to circumstances that arise during the planning and execution of catered events
•Responsible for the delivery to and from Bread Loaf Campus when appropriate
•Shares responsibility for monitoring vehicle maintenance by completing daily checklist before driving vehicle each day and following through independently to resolve or connecting with the auto department to support needed maintenance or repair.
•Supports laundry and other board operations when time allows and request originates from management
•Works Independently without need for immediate supervision

General Responsibilities:

•Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Education:

Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a Middlebury College driver’s license. High school diploma preferred. Commercial Driver’s License helpful.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Prior food service experience required. Proven positive customer relations skills a must.
General knowledge of proper lifting techniques and safety procedures.
Must be flexible and able to problem solve on site with regards to last-minute changes. Serve Safe certification helpful.
Must maintain professional demeanor to represent Dining Services while fulfilling a physically demanding job.
Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the campus community and guests.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions required.

Experience:

At least 3 years of prior applicable work experience required. Proven positive customer relations skills a must.
One year previous experience in driving a large delivery truck, and inventory procedures preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 60lbs. several times each day. Must be able to walk and climb stairs frequently. Requires long periods of time standing. Also requires frequent bending, twisting and reaching. Must be able to push and pull up to 150lbs. frequently. May require overtime.
