Advertised Job Summary:The Minority Outreach Manager is responsible for planning and implementing a strategic community based outreach effort for the Small Business Development Center targeted to minority owned small businesses in the Midlands area in order to achieve measurable economic impact for South Carolina. Primary responsibility is to provide consulting and training services that increase job creation, business startups and business growth of minority entrepreneurs and small business owners. Candidate should have demonstrated relationship building skills, success in directing /coordinating collaborative projects, and consulting experience. Strong preference will be given for experience working in or with small businesses. Some travel in support of other SBDC centers around the state may also be required.
Qualifications:Master’s Degree plus 3 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Creativity and business development/economic development orientation. Experience in or working knowledge of business financing. Strong preference for experience working in or with small businesses and in doing minority certifications.
Self starter, goal oriented and comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrated relationship-building skill and success in directing/coordinating collaborative projects.
Ability to work evening and weekend hours on occasion to conduct and/or attend seminars. Some travel required.
