A Central Sterile Processing Technician, Certi fied is responsible forcleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high-lev eldisinfection of allreusable medical instrumentation. Maintains high st andards consistencyand continuous product flow between the OR and Steril eProcessing.Responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels in steril estoragearea, rotating stock as appropriate pulling case carts for the d ailysurgical schedule.
Cleans, deconta minates, assembles, and disinfects scope trays andequipment following es tablished tray lists andmanufacturesrecommendations.Maintains communica tion with customers and departments regardingrequests and delivery of st erile supplies.Promotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to q uality patientcare.Performs assigned duties to maintain unit in a stateo f survey readinessand maintain quality initiatives. For example qualityc ontrol measures,emergency equipment checks, and department cleanliness.U ses the computerized instrument tracking system in the performance ofass igned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining specialhandli ng instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilizationloads, and other assigned tasks.Adheres to unit programs to support patient caresuc h as maintaining aquiet environment and customer service.Efficient and p unctual distribution of case carts, equipment, and statsupplies to the O R and Maintain sterility and or cleanliness accordingto hospital protoco l.Maintain accurate log for equipment out for repair.Tests operational e fficiency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessingand reports problems t o appropriate leadership.Maintains a clean and orderly central processin g area (e.g. shelves,counters, equipment)May assist with teaching ofnew hires and work as resource person forother staff as well as other units in hospital.Performs other related duties incidental to the work describ ed herein.

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Employees hired before 2/18/19 are not required to have high school diploma or equivalent.
No experience required beyond certification.

Certification required as CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (IAHCSMM)
