Organizational Unit Overview:The School of Theatre and Dance is dedicated to providing undergraduate students with superior, professional training in theatre and dance. In our rigorous, conservatory-style training within a liberal arts setting, students are taught and mentored by a diverse faculty of active professionals, who work to prepare them intellectually, artistically, and practically, to be leaders in their chosen profession.
Job Duties :This is a one year, fixed-term position for our well-established BFA program in Theatre Arts Education. Responsibilities will include: Teaching theatre education and theatre for youth classes, such as Creative Dramatics, as well as Introduction to Acting I and Introduction to Theatre; mentoring student interns and supervising them on-site in NC public schools; directing fully mounted Theatre for Young Audiences show; and teaching other classes in candidate’s area of specialization and/or as assigned.
East Carolina University is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre.
This position is contingent upon available funding.
Minimum Education/Experience :To be considered for this position, applicants must have a Masters in Theatre Education and currently hold, or be eligible to hold, a NC Licensure in Theatre Arts Education upon the date of employment. Other requirements include: experience with edTPA and teaching in K-12 public schools; directing and touring credentials in Theatre for Young Audiences; and a record of Community Engagement projects and outreach.
