Organizational Unit Overview:Coastal Studies Institute is a multi-university, collaborative institute dedicated to understanding and improving the coastal environment and it’s communities through integrative, location-based research, education and community engagement. The programs of the institute are as follows: Estuarine Ecology & Human Health; Coastal Engineering & Ocean Energy; Coastal Processes; Public Policy and Coastal Sustainability’ Maritime Heritage and Public Education and Outreach.
Job Duties :Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing, maintaining, and recovering various oceanography equipment. Fieldwork/collections of the current and ancillary measurements. The technician will collect ship-board (offshore) and bottom-mounted ADCP current measurement and maintain equipment during collection; program conductivity temperature and density sensors during experiments. The technician will also assist with land base radar surface current measurements – maintain, calibrate, and repair as needed. Ability to calculate field and lab analysis with GPS and project software. The technician will complete lab work following protocols, monitor changes and report findings.
Minimum Education/Experience:Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
