General Description:

This Coordinator of Professional Development will be responsible for assisting the Director in managing and supporting the assessment of organizational needs and planning, developing implementing, administering and evaluating programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of college employees, particularly supervisors and emerging leaders. Responsible for administration and integration of professional development programs and associated, multiple projects to achieve strategic plan, goals and operational objectives. Responsible for scheduling and planning HR courses, activities and events and assisting Diversity Committee.
Additionally, Coordinator will be responsible for tracking and facilitating compliance and safety training.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum two (2) years’ organizational development, training, teaching, or related Human Resources experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to make formal presentations on a variety of work-related topics on a regular basis.

Ability to research varied ways the adult student learns including but not limited to face-to-face instruction; instructor led e-learning; and e-learning on demand.

Demonstrated ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate professional development programs.

Demonstrated ability to determine training objectives.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Standard computer skills (e.g., generating spreadsheet or word processing documents; developing templates for use by other team members; preparing graphic presentations).

Ability to exercise sound project management skills and careful attention to detail.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to operate a computer; other office machinery and mobile devices to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of fingers, hands, and wrists.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position performs the essential functions in a typical interior/office work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

College-level degree in one or more of the following: Organizational Development, Training and Development or related field

Higher Education work experience

Required Training:

Continuing education and professional development as directed.

Work Hours:

This position is a regular, full-time exempt position. This employee is regularly scheduled to work 40 or more hours in a single work week.

The designated work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct the needs assessment for training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the college.

Identify/incorporate best practices and lessons learned into program plans.

Provide a broad range of services to all levels of employees regarding career project management to include but not limited to assessment and improvement of current skill set.

Provide expertise in strategy development and execution, planning, and facilitation of employee professional development efforts.

Design and develop various skill enhancement training programs for management and employees. Develops, evaluates and updates instructional programs.

Assist in recruiting subject matter experts to serve as effective instructors for professional development programs.

Assist the Human Resources Division with achieving strategic plan, goals and operational objectives through the implementation of the professional development initiatives.

Coordinate the College’s New Employee Orientation program.

Administer College’s online compliance and safety training.

Develop and edit HR newsletter and training communications.

Communicate and track updates for webpage.

Administrative support to Diversity Committee initiative.

Assist and/or Schedule HR activities and events.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures):

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC’s established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
