Job description
Hofstra University's School of Health Professions and Human Services, Department of Health Professions, is seeking applications for an anticipated full-time tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor beginning September 1, 2021 in the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program. The Hofstra University entry-level Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program joined the Department of Health Professions, which includes professional preparation programs in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Sport Science, Athletic Training, Exercise Science and Health Science. Qualifications: Candidates must be certified by the NBCOT, eligible for licensure in the State of New York, and must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in occupational therapy practice. Candidates must have an earned advanced degree (e.g., OTD, EdD, PhD, ScD). Demonstrated teaching experience with content expertise in assistive technology, cognition, and physical disabilities is preferred. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students and colleagues is expected, as well as fostering an educational environment that is conducive to learning, respect, integrity, teamwork and professionalism.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, teaching and maintaining curriculum in areas of expertise as determined by the Program Director, serve as academic advisor for students, engage in scholarly activity, e.g., contribute to scholarship through research, presentations and /or publications, grants, and mentorship of student research; maintain currency in the academic discipline through continuing study, research, and/or participation in professional activities, and positively contributing to committee service within the program, department, university, and the profession. Faculty report directly to the Occupational Therapy Program Director.
