Department The Visual Disabilities program in the School of Teacher Education at Florida State University invites applications for an instructional position at the rank of Teaching Faculty I in Visual Disabilities. We seek a colleague to support the Visual Disabilities program in its commitment to preparing high-quality professionals to provide services to individuals with visual impairments as teachers of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility specialists.

Serve on student graduate committees
Coordinate the Orientation and Mobility Specialization, including but not limited to: (a) advising and mentoring, (b) coordinating field experiences (i.e., practicum and internship), (c) supervising field experiences (i.e., practicum and internship), (d) actively participating in recruitment efforts. Provide service to schools, the University, Department, College, and the profession. Grow and support existing partnerships/relationships with regional providers of services to individuals with visual impairments and national colleagues.Prepare grant proposals to potential funding agencies.Qualifications Earned doctorate in visual disabilities, special education, or a related field
ACVREP certification in Orientation and Mobility (COMS)
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Commitment to and experience with working with diverse student populations
Three years experience as an orientation and mobility specialist.Preferred Successful grant management and writing
K-12 certification as a teacher of students with visual impairments
Experience as a teacher of students with visual impairments
Experience mentoring pre-service and in-service orientation and mobility specialists
Experience teaching orientation and mobility methods courses
