Over the past several decades, Immunobiology has emerged to stand at the forefront of biomedical research and is likely to remain there for many decades to come. There has never been a more exciting time to work in and study Immunobiology. Beginning in late 2020, the Department of Immunobiology announced a new Personalized Defense Initiative with the goal to stimulate host:microbe basic and translational research, foster highly impactful projects on host:microbe interactions, and to support training of a new generation of investigators at the University. One major component of this initiative is to recruit highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Associates to perform cutting-edge research in an intradisciplinary setting between the Wilson and Johnson labs at the University of Arizona. The successful applicant will possess the desire to participate in the study of how the oral microbiota impacts chronic inflammation and tumorigenesis in the oral cavity. This project is currently funded for two years. The Department of Immunobiology at the University of Arizona’s Collegeof Medicine is growing into a nationally and internationally recognizedresearch and educational center. - Conduct independent experiments, evaluate the data, and keep appropriate records of all research activities.
- Read the literature, participate in scientific discussions with other members of the labs, and attend mandatory lab meetings.
- Perform assigned lab duties to assist in the maintenance of stock reagents or the general operation of the lab.
- Maintain individual mouse strains and perform experimental mouse models, including working in germ-free settings.
- There may be additional duties assigned as it relates to this position.
- PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, or related fields.
- Experience with modern molecular biology, biochemistry, and tissue culture techniques.
- Basic understanding of protein structure/function relationships and signal transduction.
