This position will help lay the foundation for a robust and meaningful business intelligence platform that serves Austin Community College District and help support their new enterprise information management strategy.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Participates in the definition, implementation, and support of college-wide BI strategy.
  • Takes a leading role in defining the processes, standards, and roadmap for data warehousing, analytical reporting, operational reporting, ETL/ELT processes, data governance, and master data management.
  • Designs and implements the data warehouse, operational data layers, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Works closely with the business to gather requirements for meaningful infrastructure that drives effective analytics solutions for end users.
  • Works closely with other developers to define and build out the data model and transformation processes that drive the data warehouse.
  • Provides technical leadership to other members of the Business Intelligence Team.
  • Participates in BI product evaluations and business decisions to ensure fit and scale into the platform and the organization.
  • Keeps pace with a nimble team of experienced people in an agile environment.
  • KnowledgeMust possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


    Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, as well as policy development and maintenance. Extensive experience in good data modeling techniques. High competency in MS SQL Server, Oracle SQL, stored procedures, and other SQL modalities and tools, Unidata experience a plus. Knowledge of best practices for data quality management, master data management, and near-real-time data warehousing. Experience with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, Datastage, Dell Boomi, etc.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


    Maintaining an established work schedule. Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills. Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to analyze complex information, identify issues, and develop plans to address them. Effectively using negotiation and facilitation skills.
    Organizationally savvy, with a good understanding of the enterprise's political climate and how to navigate stakeholders. Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations. Strong presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences. Ability to take complex concepts and create models for discussion, evaluation, and collaboration, including the ability to explain technological concepts to business leaders, explain business concepts to technologists, and sell ideas and processes at all levels.Technology Skills


    Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.Required Work Experience


  • Five years related work experience.
  • Preferred Work Experience


    10+ years of working with technology development/delivery teams. 8+ years of technology design, implementation, or consulting in one or more of the following areas: enterprise data warehousing, business intelligence reporting and analytics tools, cloud and iPaaS platforms, big data, data lakes, etc. 5+ years of working with enterprise/solution architecture frameworks, methodologies, templates, and tools.Required Education


  • Bachelor's degree.

    Bachelor's degree in business information systems (IS), computer science or related field, or equivalent related IT experience.Special RequirementsLicenses/Certifications; Other

    This is a benefit eligible position funded through January 31, 2022 and is subject to renewal. The College is unable to support candidates who require sponsorship to work in the United States.
    ACC Benefits OverviewFull-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

    ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
