To direct the staff and operations of the Austin Community College (ACC) systems engineering department, and to provide stable, secure, and reliable systems infrastructure to faculty, staff, and students.Description of Duties and TasksEssential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Financial, personnel, and administrative functions of a technology department. Budget planning, projection, and analysis. Project management methodologies. Principles and techniques for management of organization-wide projects. Working knowledge of information technology and security best practices.
Working knowledge of all aspects of technology related to systems engineering and related technologies. Must understand and be familiar with current industry and market trends related to network engineering. Current trends and information sources for managing network systems. Telecommunications principles, regulations, and system management strategies. Management principles, practices, and methods.
Forward looking approach to architect, engineer, and implement future adaptive system architecture and technology to include but not limited to server build standards, virtual environment design, and other methods to modernize the system infrastructure.SkillsMust possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

Okta implementation and administration. Windows 10 implementation and administration. Physical and virtual server deployment and maintenance.
VDI on VxRail and Nutanix, Clustered environments, Colocation, Migration, Security in a geographically distributed environment serving 3000 Employees and 80K clients. AWS and infrastructure management knowledge.Required Work Experience
Twelve years related work experience. Experience managing systems technology at a multi-campus organization.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.

Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel in the Austin area as required.Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.

This is a benefit eligible position funded through January 31, 2022 and is subject to renewal. The College is unable to support candidates who require sponsorship to work in the United States.
