Diversity statement can be attached to cover letter as a second document** The Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Information Officer (AVC/CIO) leads the campus technology initiatives through appropriate support services, innovative programs and robust infrastructure that empower the UCR community to achieve excellence in its teaching, research, public service and patient treatment missions. This forward-thinking, strategic executive reports to the Provost/Executive Vice Chancellor and leads the Information Technology Solutions (ITS) organization by engaging with senior campus administrators, faculty, staff and students through an integrated enterprise approach to workflow, process, data management, technology and culture. The AVC/CIO role encompasses three broad areas of responsibility: 1) steward multi-year strategic planning initiatives, including evaluation of innovative and emerging technologies; 2) serve as a campus advisor and strategic partner by fostering technical partnerships with UCR deans, faculty, vice chancellors and librarians in support of distributed computing initiatives; 3) provide leadership responsibility for a highly technical organization, including key matrixed relationships with campus units. This position may travel up to 25% of the time. **All finalists will be required to present a vision seminar.** Education Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Advanced degree. Preferred
Experience Experience Requirement 10 - 15 years of related experience. Required Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred Typically 10 years or more of experience managing an Information technology organization. Preferred

Minimum Requirements Requires knowledge of policies and procedures and ability to determine a course of action based on these guidelines.
Requires extensive and in-depth knowledge of Information Technology principles, theories, and concepts to manage functional area(s) and provide solutions.
Demonstrates ability to carry out extremely complex assignments requiring expert knowledge of key business principles and practices.
Requires in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, and the department's goals.
Clearly understands the needs and concerns of the user groups in the organization and applies knowledge to better meet those needs.
Demonstrated success in a large and complex environment with experience managing a large group of professional technical employees engaged in the successful development and implementation of sophisticated computer applications; similar experience directing the efforts of voice and data network professionals responsible for designing, successfully implementing, and supporting very large and complex networks; and similar experience directing multiple organizations charged with delivering effective technical support services to faculty, staff, and students.
Ability and desire to implement modern approaches to all aspects of organizational IT (software selection, development methodologies, technical infrastructure, IT management, and IT service delivery).
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Experience implementing and maintaining software applications across a complex organizational structure, and managing an internal development team.
Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to create "technical partnerships" and engage in productive distributive computing relationships with Deans, faculty, Librarians, staff, and other campus constituencies.
