The Campus Operators are responsible for providing caller related service and information for internal and external inquiries directed to UT Information Services. These services include but are not limited to departmental and individual call transfers and general knowledge of University and organizational events. This is an important position and functions as a frontline face of the University. This position must be very resourceful in problem solving, and supportive and helpful to all callers. 

Work Performed     
The candidate will be responsible for directory assistance for the University.  This position must be able to listen to caller, understand what they are asking, and connect them to the appropriate group on campus.  This position will train new employees, notify administrators when updates need to be made, contact users whose information may be out of date, maintain privacy requests, and provide coverage as necessary for this essential area. This position will have clerical duties as assigned.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications    
This position requires at least one year of demonstrated customer service experience and one to two years of office experience.  The applicant must have a high school degree.  This person must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to handle difficult customers.  Experience with a multi-line telephone system, basic computer skills, and Microsoft Office is required.  Knowledge of the University community and surrounding area is preferred.  

Skills and Abilities    

The applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including good diction, pleasant speaking voice and be clearly understandable over the telephone.  The applicant must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and team-building skills.  The applicant must be able to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment.  The applicant must be self-motivated, be able to work independently, and be able to function and make decisions under pressure.  The applicant must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.  The applicant must have experience with Microsoft Office products and basic computing skills.
