Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field. Three years of experience in marketing and communications, specifically email and social media. Experience with email marketing systems and website management. Ability to write public relations and marketing content. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Creates, manages, and executes digital marketing campaigns using marketing and social media platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

Creates, manages, and executes marketing campaigns using email marketing and social media platforms. Develops, monitors, and updates behavior-based marketing messages for a range of University-related marketing, alumni relations, constituent, and development (fundraising) messaging. Serves as gatekeeper and scheduler for outbound messaging. Serves as the expert on University email processes. Works in close partnership with cross-functional teams including marketing and communications director, creative services staff, University stakeholders, University Advancement staff and other colleges. Works with vendors for installation of software and services associated with the email platform, implementation and testing. Oversees data analysis, reporting, and business intelligence. Oversees optimization and A/B testing for continuous improvement. Plans, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs to include e-mail marketing, campaign scheduling and records management. Assist Assistant Director of Marketing with managing social media platforms and creating innovative social media campaigns. Analyze social media metrics to improve effectiveness to target audiences. Works to promote social media best practices to the University community through presentations to departments, individuals and divisions. Write and edit content for emails, social media, and websites. Update website content as needed using University’s Content Management System. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Must have strong analytical and marketing science skills. Must be able to forge effective relationships – both internally and externally. Works in close partnership with the director, creative services staff, university stakeholders, University Advancement staff and other college stakeholders to develop, monitor, and update digital marketing messages for a range of university-related marketing, alumni relations, constituent, and development messaging. Must possess strong digital marketing and demand generation skills using a variety of technologies and platforms. Utilizes email software and social media platforms. Must have strong strategic thinking, creative problem solving, and analytical skills. Should have strong project management skills: organized, responsive and focused on results. Requires the ability to understand how to work in content management systems for web publishing and how to make different technologies work well together. Should have knowledge of how to apply technology to support business processes and campaign workflows. Must have the ability to develop behavioral-based email campaigns and understand analytical and metrics-focused template development and testing. Requires proficient computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Knowledge of database operation, InDesign, Photoshop, Basic technical skills in HTML coding, CSS, Java Script, and email platforms. Requires technical savvy and comfort with software applications. Must have an understanding of business needs, including marketing processes. Must be an excellent communicator, with the ability to communicate, verbally and written, complex ideas and marketing campaign design with non-technical audiences. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies. Position is located in the University’s Marketing and Communications department. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self or others.
