07-Jan-2021 Close All Job SummaryThe Division of Continuing Education at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Recruitment and Communications Manager for the university’s brand-new Outdoor Recreation Economy (ORE) program. This is a Continuing Education position that will be "embedded" within, and provide support to, the ORE program.
ORE is committed to supporting the entire outdoor recreation economy through innovative approaches to economic development, the management of resilient public lands and waterways, the creation of inclusive spaces, and the promotion of sustainable business practices. CU Boulder will become the flagship place of learning for the outdoor recreation economy. We are looking for someone to help us lead change in the industry. We seek an individual who has the drive and analytical skills to create thoughtful, strategic recruitment campaigns across multiple academic programs, the emotional intelligence and project management skills to lead enterprise-wide initiatives effectively, and strong interpersonal skills. The ORE program’s recruitment approach will rely on high-touch engagement with, and nurturing of, prospective students and corporate partners.
The Recruitment and Communications Manager position will have two main functions. First, this position will lead all student recruitment activities across the ORE degree, certificate, and noncredit programs. This function requires the implementation of recruitment campaigns to drive enrollment of diverse students across all ORE programs. Second, this position requires the ability to create a corporate and civic engagement strategy that can curate and support external partnerships with the outdoor industry, communities, and non-profit organizations. These external engagement activities will result in scholarships, experiential learning opportunities, career mentorship, and a replenishable and diverse talent pipeline for the industry.
The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. We are an Equal Opportunity employer, including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Who We AreThe Mission of the Division of Continuing Education is to provide quality, innovative lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse student population by extending the educational resources of the University of Colorado Boulder. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Manage ORE recruitment and application process that will attract a diverse student body. ORE is the first program of its kind. We believe strongly in widespread access to higher education to all student populations and broadening the diversity and inclusivity of the outdoor recreation industry. You will assist with creating a diverse student body, and thus a more diverse sector.
  • Work closely with marketing vendors and other campus units, such as the Office of Strategic Relations and Continuing Education to develop the ORE signature identity, content, content strategy, and highly effective marketing and external communications campaigns.
  • Grow new prospective student leads, including marketing-qualified leads, by converting site traffic through calls-to-action and lead content generation.
  • Lead nurturing processes through email, phone, Zoom, remote and in-person visits, webinars, content, and social channels.
  • Monitor and, as appropriate, replicate standard practices in recruiting at peer institutions.
  • Develop press kit materials for media outlets, including press releases, images, pitch letters, case studies, feature articles, and trend stories.
  • Connect with influential media outlets to place stories about ORE news and other initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary communications connection between ORE and external organizations, translating and localizing ORE initiatives and communications efforts.
  • Lead all student recruitment activities across the ORE degree, certificate, and noncredit programs – to include the implementation of recruitment campaigns to drive enrollment of diverse students.
  • Create and execute a corporate and civic engagement strategy that can curate and support external partnerships with the outdoor industry corporate partners, communities, and non-profit organizations. The position provides the opportunity to support communities and organizations to re-emerge stronger during and after COVID.
