Organizational Unit Overview:The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The department provides accessible, high quality health care for its patients.
The Department of Family Medicine consists of seven divisions, as well as a central administration office. Each division has a responsibility that supports the overall mission of the department. The divisions include educational development, research, medical student education, residency, geriatrics, clinical services, and sports medicine. Clinical activities take place in the Family Medicine Center, Robert and Frances Monk Geriatric Center, Firetower Medical Office, nursing homes, Vidant Medical Center and in the community.
Job Duties :Duties of this position include but are not limited to: Verifying data, report writing, summarizing and reconciling information or financial data, records management, claims review and processing, data collection and analysis, research, inventory, personnel administration, and fund collection or expenditures. The role is different from the Administrative Support Associate because fewer general office or administrative tasks are performed.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.
Minimum Education/Experience:High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation:No
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:Associate Degree in Medical Office Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Management Technology, or other related degree from an accredited two year program with 1 year of healthcare experience or equivalent education or experience.
License or Certification required by the Department:None
