Job Description:ECU Department of Biology is currently seeking McRae Lab Assistants. Duties will include but not be limited to observing and identifying banded bluebirds, regularly checking the status of nest boxes, maintaining equipment, banding, measuring and sampling nestlings. You will receive training in these research skills. The fieldwork work week will be flexible and will likely involve 5-6 hours per day, 3 days per week in peak season. Daily schedules may be split between 2 students working independently. Early mornings and some weekend work may be required.
Candidates will preferably be currently in their sophomore year, but Biology majors at other stages in their degree will be considered. Students should have taken or be currently enrolled in a course in Ecology, Genetics, and/or Evolution. Candidates will be selected for zoom interview on the basis of their academic record, and eligibility based on the stated requirements and interest in research.
These positions are open to students that have their own reliable vehicle for independent transportation to and from the field site. You must also be living in Greenville during the field season (April through July).
