Job Description

The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBC) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) announces an opening for an Executive Assistant position in the Dean’s Office. This position provides a high level of support to the SBC Dean and serves as the main point of contact for the Dean’s Office. The individual selected for this position will join a highly effective team which support the Dean, three Department Chairs, a team of Advisors, and Support Staff. This position is expected to develop an understanding of all aspects of the School and how the three departments and the Dean’s Office function together to provide solutions to problems that arise. Duties include but are not limited to:

    Provide administrative support to the Dean, and overall operations of the Deans’ Office with confidentialityManage the Dean’s calendarProvide assistance to the Dean on short-term and long-term projects and processesProvide support to SBC Faculty Chair and Vice-ChairCoordinate Promotion and Tenure activities for SBC Dean’s OfficeReview all approval requests in preparation for Dean’s signature.Collaborate with the Dean and Chairs on sensitive and confidential issues regarding students/potential students/facultySupervise personnel in the Dean’s OfficeProvide customer service to students, faculty and staff in the Dean’s office. Problem solve and seek options for resolution of issues Coordinate communications internal and external to the School, including alumni and UMKC administration. Coordinate hiring, working with the Dean and search committees to hire SBC full and part-time faculty and staff.Support the Vision and Mission Statements of SBC and UMKC

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in an Executive Assistant role for a Dean or C Suite executive
